themodernsoutherngentleman a réagi à votre billet : Re: Anne Frank. I think the biggest thing I don’t get (I didn’t scroll to the first comment) is why anyone announced that they were doing it. There’s a part of me that likes the idea of a group of people praying for the souls of others; it shows a sense of compassion and caring in some sense. But if it’s pissing people off, just stop. That’s what I really don’t get. How did this all come about? It’s just random.O_o That’s how that works??? I thought it was just symbolic. I’ve heard of the idea before, but admittedly never really did any research on it and my academics focus on pre-Christian religion. I didn’t realize that. That’s just…weird.
Well if you don’t believe in baptism or what have you, it’s just symbolic. Hugely disrespectful, but you know, she’s dead who cares right?
They believe in it and there is something quite wrong in changing someone’s religion without their consent.

It would be bad enough if it was someone they picked at random in a cemetery. Considering the way she died, it’s even worse. If they tried to baptize a living person without their consent, wouldn’t that be a human rights violation? Or would it not?
